Having Pride in our Country

Hi
My name is Heidi. I’m the proud mother of six children. They are the love of my life and I am so proud of each of them. They are the main reason I decided to blog. As a mother I have felt it my duty during this historical election, to encourage my children- now grown adults- to pay attention, and appreciation to this years election.
I’ve stressed attention, because we are in the battle of our lives to sustain our moral privileges that the freedoms of this country are based on. I’ve stressed appreciation, because without it, we fall into a socialistic mentality that tells us that we no longer need our own will to survive, but only the will of a government that will save us when times are hard.
A failed marriage put me in a position to turn to my own will to survive or to turn to the government to help raise my children. Even my boss encouraged me to quit my job and let the government raise my family. Over the years I’ve wondered why I didn’t take that path. This year when I watched John McCains speech employing all people to Stand up and fight, I realized why I did what I did.
We as Americans must not use our government to save us when we find ourselves in a bad situation. We must use our government to live in freedom. If we give into the enticement of the government paying all our bills and raising our families then we will loose the ability to Stand up and fight. Those that have fought in wars and given their lives for our God given right to choose our own paths have done so in vain if we do not do our part.
We must hold ourselves accountable to our success and our failures. We must hold our heads high and do all we can do before we let others hold us hostage to a government that would have us depend on them instead of one that protects our way of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
During this election don’t be tempted to sale yourself out by listening to the promises for the middle class. Don’t be so shallow as to think that government paying your bills will ease your burdens. Don’t fall for the ploy that the government will pay for your health care. We must stand up and fight!!! We the middle class of America needs to find our backbone and be proud of what we have and proud of the America we have helped build. Without us there is no one left but the greedy and faint of heart.
We must look at the upper class, as a means to the end not judge them for what they have. They provide us with the jobs we feed our families with and they give us hope that we can have a better life. Better them then the government. Look not at how many homes or cars they own, where they shop or where they vacation. Don’t envy their bank accounts or their wealth. But instead be grateful that we live in a country that they had the ability, privilege and freedom to become and have what they dreamed they could become and have. This privilege does not only belong to the rich, but to all of us.
I am 50 years old, I do not own a home, my teeth are falling out of my head because I have no insurance, there is no 401k to help during retirement, and I work from 5:30am to 10: 30 pm with very little time in between for any thing for myself. I take responsibility for being in the position I find myself in and I will be the one to take responsibility for my action. I am one American that will not let those in government tell me that I can’t take care of myself. I will do all I can do to stand on my own two feet and I will do it proudly!!!! And when I can’t do it by myself any more I will call on my children to aid me.
Join me on my journey. Teach your children to put God first, family second, and country third. When in need, ask God for the strength to endure, family second for help and support and last go to country for aid. Work as many jobs as you can find. Stay out of debt, and learn to live in joy with what you have. Raise your children to be proud and to work hard for what they have. Hold them accountable for choices in life and let them know they can be and have what ever they want if they will Stand up and fight. If our government takes over all our choices we will be left with nothing to stand on. We will be left with handouts that will cripple us for generations to come.
There will be those that read this that would say I am insane and out of touch with the struggles of the average working American. I assure you I am neither. My child hood was spent in and out of foster home’s, my marriage failed, I raised six children on my own, in the 90’s I lost my home because of bad choices, one of my children was addicted to drugs –proud to say she has been clean and sober for almost five years- and the list goes on and on with the problems I’ve faced in my life. Believe me I am very much in touch with every day challenges in today’s society. But with all I have gone through, I will not allow myself to play the role of victim. I will not allow myself to take handouts when I’m still standing, I will hold my head high and proudly I will Stand up and fight!
